Dr. Subrahmanya Swamy obtained Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction from the University of Mysore in the year 1982, obtained Master of Engineering in Machine Tools in 1986 from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and Ph.D. from Kuvempu University in 2007. Worked on an important area of developing an alternate material, Granite Epoxy, for beds of precision machines employed in High Speed Grinding.
Worked as a Production Engineer in Grinders division of Mysore Kirloskar Ltd., Harihara, Design Chief at M/s Hind High Vacuum Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, and Senior Engineer at M/s Kirloskar Electric Company Ltd., Mysore. Developed indigenous designs of ED series of Rotary Vane pumps at M/s Hind High Vacuum Pvt. Ltd. Developed Vacuum pumps of different designs and capacities.
Worked as a Design consultant to M/s Fouress Engineering-Bengaluru, M/s Bombay Engineering Industries-Bengaluru, and M/s WC&C engineering, Bengaluru. Worked on development of different types of valves for Navy applications. Developed Nickel Aluminum Bronze valves – SDNR valves, Pressure relief valves, pressure reducing valves, Gate valves, and Non-return Foot valves for applications in ship building. Accomplished complete product design and development in addition to assisting the clients in testing and evaluation.
Dr. Swamy brings in a perfect blend of industrial knowhow with a great deal of academic experience.
His illustrious academic experience spans over 32 years. Served as Principal of Bapuji Institute of Engineering and technology, Davangere, and Dean- Academics at Global Academy Technology, Bengaluru. Published 6 Journal papers and over 25 national and International conference papers. He has guided three research scholars to successfully complete Ph.D.in advanced technology domains.
Dr. Swamy has worked as a project coordinator under SERI 2000 program for the Design and Development of a Silk Hank Dyeing machine and successfully developed the technology. SERI 2000 was a combined program of Govt. of Switzerland and Govt. of India for the development of sericulture in India. He has completed many funded research projects, with a total worth more than a crore of rupees, sponsored by agencies like AICTE, KSCST, DST, Dept. of IT & BT-Govt. of Karnataka, and Institution of Engineers (India). He was responsible for starting NAIN (New Age Incubation Network) center at BIET, Davangere, with a funding of Rs. 1 crore from Dept. of IT &BT, Govt. of Karnataka. Responsible for starting skill Development program in Textiles at BIET, Davangere, with a funding of Rs. 80 Lakhs from Govt. of Karnataka. Responsible for starting GAT Incubation Center at Global Academy of Technology.
Dr. Swamy is currently heading the Engineering and Development wing of Imagex Technologies guiding a team of young Design and Production Engineers. He is focused and aligned with the dream of Imagex to develop customized new products in cutting edge technology areas, including aerospace, and defense applications.
